Social Foundations helps parents and caregivers learn playful and personalized ways to build their children’s interaction and communication skills.  Families scheduled for Social Starts or Social Bridges therapy sessions should watch this 4-module series before beginning therapy sessions.

Module 1 (19 minutes)

This module provides an introduction to the workshop and helps families to consider how sensory preferences impact our communication and social interaction with others. We’ll also explore how to use a child’s sensory preferences to help choose play activities.

Module 2 (30 minutes)

In part 2, we’ll discuss how to support children’s emotional regulation.  We’ll also examine 4 different communication profiles and help parents understand which profile best describes their child.

Module 3 (22 minutes)

This module introduces the Interaction Cycle.  This framework helps families to use 4 simple strategies to support their kids’ interaction in fun and meaningful ways.

Module 4 (24 minutes)

In this module, we’ll help families to see how to use the strategies in the Interaction Cycle in everyday routines.  We’ll also touch briefly on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and discuss next steps for families after viewing the modules.
